"Tejas ... Means Friend!"

“The sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.” Prv. 27:9b.

Leaving the house in Thailand

When the explorers met the Indians of the Texas territory for the first time they were openly received and quickly became friends with the native people.  These locals loved and cared these foreign immigrants. “TEJAS” comes from these tribal language for “Friend”.  As we come to Texas, we are so glad to be welcomed by our “Tejas, Friends” here at home.

Praise the Lord.  After many days of preparation and travel the Brittan Family arrived in Texas, the land of “Friends” on Friday June 5.  This trip we had the smoothest and fastest itinerary that we have ever had, and before we left Thailand, we also had time to enjoy a break at a nice local hotel to rest and relax.

Arrived at DFW Airport June 5

Pattie’s Parents picked us up from the airport, along with my aunt and uncle who loaned us a truck to gather all of our 12 checked bags, 10 carry-ons, and a Bicycle Box.  The kids requested that we go to IHOP for our traditional first meal before we hit to the road to Lake Texoma for a few days to see family.  On Saturday, we went to visit a car dealership in McKinney where we received the blessing of a beautiful Mini-Van that has been loaned to us for use during our State-side assignment.  And we got to visit more friends and set up cell phones so that we can communicate.

Picking up our Van for the Year in McKinney

Sunday morning we attended worship at Kentucky Town Baptist Church in Whitewright, TX with dear friends who lead worship there followed by an all we could eat feast of Spicy Chicken Wings, another traditional haunt for our family and friends in Texas.

This month will be a special time of reconnecting with friends and family after more than three years away from the US for our family.  This will be the first time in over nine years for our family to spend and extended time in the US and we are looking forward to having more time than ever before to visit and build relationships with you and the church families that mean so much to us.

THAT SAID …. WE WANT TO SEE YOU THIS FRIDAY!!!

This Friday, June 12 at 6:30pm, we would like for you to come eat and share together with us.  We will meet at MAMA’S DAUGHTER’S DINER in Plano.  This is located at the NE corner of Midway and Park across from Prestonwood Baptist Church.  Meeting at this location is becoming a tradition for Narrow Gate Asia, to meet and share with you about the progress of our ministry and project in North Thailand.  Each year, we have more and more people join us, and we hope this this year, with our whole family there, you too can come and be a part.

We have reserved the private dining room where we can meet, eat, and visit.  Like previous events, this will be a “Dutch” event where you take care of your own bill, and as such you can order anything you would like to enjoy form the menu of home cooked favorites.

Pattie and kids will be with me this year and I promise to keep my presentation short this time with ample opportunity for questions.  Our primary goal is to set a causal forum to talk, share, and catch up with everyone, and I hope that all of our friends and supporters in the North Dallas area can come.

SO … for those of you in the North Dallas area … I hope that you can come by and see us.  Put Friday June 12th on your calendar and email me at hbrittan@gmail.com to let me know if you can make it.

In a few weeks, we will be meeting in Fort Worth for BBQ and more information will be coming soon about that event.
