"I Need a SIGN!"

“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6: 33-34.

Since we arrived in the States a couple of weeks ago … people keep telling us to “rest” and we continually have to ask ourselves what that means.  For farmers, who naturally rise before the sun and work all day, the word “REST” is not a word that commonly enters into our vocabulary.  We know that a primary purpose for our Stateside assignment is to “REST”, so as we enter into this time I have been asking God to show me what HE thinks that means …

And THIS MORNING, HE gave me a SIGN!!!!  It was a simple, hand-painted sign on the side of Farm to Market Road 531 west of Weatherford, Texas.

I am pretty stubborn sometimes, so a clear, concise sign was just what I needed to make this clear as we begin this journey that we are calling “Stateside Assignment”. “SEEK GOD!”

I have to be real honest, as I look at our travel schedule, or preaching schedule, housing, cars, food, clothes, school, ministry, and on and on and on, and I can’t help but scream, “HOW CAN I REST!!!” There is so much to do, and compared to our home in Thailand everything is so expensive, that I am left reeling confused, and tired to the core.

But Jesus tells in Chapter 6 of Matthew that we don’t have to worry about these things.  Our Father feeds the birds of the air, he makes the grass and flowers grow, and MORE than THAT … we are His children and he loves us and wants to care for us in ways we cannot yet even imagine.

This next year while we rest, relax, reconnect, and retool the Lord is telling me to do all of this in the context of “SEEKING HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!”  He will give us the rest that we need, but His REST is the product of seeking Him.

We have been blessed since arriving in the US to have the opportunity to visit friends and Family in Texas located in North Texas, and Tennessee. And tomorrow we settle down at the mission residence where we will call home at First Baptist Church Benbrook.  Hattie heads out soon for Vet Camp, Emma started Ballet Camp, Harry is at American Football Camp, and Nellie is at Softball Camp.  It is fun to see old friends and make new ones, and we look forward to seeing all of you soon.
