"Partnerships for Success!" IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION

The Brittan Family was blessed in 2009 to have the opportunity to begin a ministry that uses Business as Mission to see Thai and ethnic cell groups of believers started in North Thailand that will develop into churches that reach out to their communities and to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Narrow Gate Farm and Dairy has been the focal point of our ministry outreach and integration with the community and will continue to grow and serve in that role.

As we look to the future, and plan for the long term sustainability of the mission and of our family, God has impressed upon us the crucial nature of Partnerships for our Success!  This relates both to details for administration and organization of our Mission and to Church Planting.

MISSION PARTNERSHIP – As some may already know from our gathering and announcements in the US prior to our departure, The Brittan Family has aligned with SEND International and more specifically Marketplace & Development Enterprises (MDE).  MDE is a mission organization that was created for the specific purpose of doing Business as Mission with a heart for Church Planting.

At MDE it is our vision is to see mature Christ-followers taking the presence and the message of Christ to the millions who have little to no hope of experiencing God’s love or hearing truth in their community.

Together, we believe this is often best done through relationships built in the natural setting of the “marketplace” of a community. Relationships that are developed by working alongside people -- either as a fellow employee or as the owner of a business.

The Brittan Family and MDE are called to the Business Marketplace for the purpose of teaming with others in planting healthy, reproducing churches through the natural relationships that flow from working and living in authentic ways in those communities.

MDE brings to the Brittan family the ability to send and help us administrate the logistics of being “Faith Based” missionaries overseas.  Most importantly, MDE was created with the express purpose of starting, growing, and supporting Business as Missions Enterprises this will help our project at Narrow Gate Farm and Dairy to grow and be sustainable for the future.

CHURCH PLANTING PARTNERSHIPThe Brittan Family is entering a new partnership with long-time friends at Baan Athitaan Church and The Channel of Blessing Foundation near our farm in Chiang Rai.  Here, I will serve as the Director of Development be responsible for implementing systems and programs related to spiritual, moral, and community/agricultural development.  This partnership is going to strengthen our position as church planters and give us assistance to more effectively pursue our vision to reach the Northern Thai People with the Gospel and to plant a church through our ministry project at Narrow Gate.  This organization will also provide me with a Visa and Work Permit that will allow me to live and work in Thailand for an extended time and fulfill my roles in both Church Planting and in our Business as Mission Project at Narrow Gate Farm and Dairy.  This is a very special opportunity that God has provided for us.  As we transition into this new role please be in prayer for our Baan Athitaan team.

For more information about Baan Athitaan Church and Channel of Blessing Foundation visit our partner website:

NTIM / Channel of Blessing Website

As a result of these partnerships, the Brittan Family is stronger and more prepared than ever before to pursue God’s call to reach the people of North Thailand.  The heart and vision of the Brittan Family and Narrow Gate Asia is the same…  That said, all support and administration of Narrow Gate Asia is being transitioned to SEND International and MDE over the course of the next several months.

FAQ about this transition….

What does this mean for the vision and ministry of Narrow Gate Asia?

  • The Brittan family will be stronger and better able to meet the needs of our family and ministry through these partnerships, resulting in a more effective outreach project and church plant.

What does this mean for Narrow Gate Asia as an organization?

  • Narrow Gate Asia will transfer all administration to SEND International and will wrap up operations by year end 2016.  That said, we are thankful for the service and commitment of our Board Members over the years, and in many ways these same individuals will continue to serve in advisory capacities with our new partner organizations to insure that the vision and task of Narrow Gate and the Brittan Family is maintained for the future.

What does this mean for Financial Supporters of the Brittan Family?

  • Yes… You can still support the Brittan Family and Vision for Church Planting and outreach projects in Thailand and we encourage you to continue.  The Vision and task remains the same and that is to integrate with the community for the purpose of Sharing the Love of Jesus.
  • Monthly Support and Special Gifts can be given directly to SEND International, and they will administer those gifts for us.  You will receive tax deductible receipts for your contributions to NGA for 2016, and SEND International will also provide tax receipts for you at the appropriate time.
  • If you are a new supporter, this is a great time for you to make a commitment to be a part of our monthly support team and sign up today! We are praying that the Holy Spirit will be leading you to partner with us, and we appreciate your support.

During these times of Change, we have so much to be excited for, and especially to be thankful for. God has been so good to our family during our return to Thailand and we look forward to our new partnerships with SEND International, Channel of Blessing Foundation (Thailand), and especially with YOU!  Without the prayers, encouragement, and financial support of Partners like you, we would not be able to represent you on the mission field in Thailand.

If you questions or would like more information about these developments please feel free to contact me via email and we can always arrange a time to visit as well.

Thank you,
And God Bless you all,

Re-engagement!

TODAY is three weeks since we arrived back in Thailand, and I could not be more pleased and blessed with the transition.  I can easily say that week one was spent finding a house.  Week two was spent moving in, and this past week we have had a chance to re-engage the community, the farm, the school, and our lives here in Thailand.

This past week, we had the opportunity to preach and share with the congregation at Baan Athitaan Church in Chiang Rai.  We have known and partnered with this ministry team in many ways over the years, and it is exciting to see how God is using this ministry to grow God’s Kingdom in this region through His Church, and through an English Language School.  This Church is about 85% Thai speakers and does an amazing job reaching out to college students at nearby Chiang Rai Rajtchabat University and also Mae Fa Luang University.  There were more than 200 people present for the Sunday morning service and we look forward to our continued partnership and growth there.

Sunday Evening, we were invited to preach at the Chiang Rai International Christian Fellowship.  This is a group of foreigners from around the word that has moved to this region to live, and serve our King.  CRICF meets twice per month to pray, worship, and be encouraged by the teaching of God’s Word and fellowship.  I spoke Sunday about the “Narrow Gate” and talked about the state of evangelism in Thailand, the need for obedience through discipleship, and encouraged the group in their call to serve.

Since last week, Pattie has begun to prepare her classroom at Chiang Rai International Christian School.  New rooms have been constructed and this will be the first term to use the new wing of classrooms.  This week is full with teacher in service days, and the kids arrive on Monday.  Our involvement with CRICS is such a blessing to our family and so many other missionary families, and also more than 30% of the students are from the local Thai community and some come to know Jesus every year in addition to gaining a world class education.

The farm is doing great!  Our team has done a great job taking care of business this past year, and as I reconnect with the team and farm, we are starting to plan for the future and how to make our project self-sustainable.  Right now, I am focusing on involvement with daily tasks and administration so that we can be strengthened and prepared for growth.  Our manager, Phi Nat is working diligently on developing outside sales locations and markets.   This past week, we have had multiple opportunities to host visitors and guests from the community, including my best friend Pastor Adison Rungsiripipat from Mae Sai.  He brought a group of volunteers to see and experience our Business as Missions (BAM) project.  In the coming weeks, we will be hosting missionaries from TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission - Asia) to discuss BAM projects, and in September we will have a team from OMF (Overseas Mission Fellowship) to attend a workshop in our farm about engaging the community with the Gospel through Business as Missions.

Our vision is to see Thai and ethnic cell groups of believers started in North Thailand that will develop into churches that reach out to their communities and to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Brittan Family operates a church planting and outreach project located in Chiang Rai, Thailand, that exist for the ultimate purpose of bringing God Glory through the expansion of His Kingdom.  The basis of this outreach strategy is a goat farm and dairy that is a model for the agricultural and business community in Thailand that utilizes the people, resources, and relationships of the organization to open doors to the community that will allow for us to demonstrate God’s love to community where we live and work.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Praise God for progress and ease in the transition process.
  • Praise God for new members in our monthly financial support team.
  • Pray for favor and logistics for acquisition of Work Permits and Visa extensions for Harry and Pattie.
  • Pray for continued financial provision for ministry expenses and missionary support.
  • Pray that God’s Kingdom come and Will be done in North Thailand through the Narrow Gate Project and the Brittan Family.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support.  We will continue to keep you posted about our travel progress

Blessings from The Brittan Family to yours…

"Good to be Home!"

Our last six weeks in the States were a whirlwind of travel, speaking, and activity as we prepared for our departure to come “Home”!  “Home” can be anywhere, really.  But no matter where you are, Home is very much, “Where the heart is.”  We arrived in Chiang Rai, Thailand on the warm balmy afternoon of August 4.  We started looking at rent houses the next day, and by the weekend, we were blessed with the most beautiful little house that we have ever seen.  The homeowner is a coworker with some of our friends at the University nearby and she is very friendly and nice.

In addition to house hunting, we used the first few days to reconnect with the Farm Team, old friends, and ministry partners.  We have eaten all of our favorite foods, and even explored some new ones.  Because the house was not ready right away to move in, we also had several much needed days to rest and relax.  Packing, moving, storing, visiting, and traveling for six weeks had made us very grateful for the time to unplug and recuperate a bit.

The Farm team was a great help to move in and set up the house.  It may still take a while to arrange everything the way we want it, but everything is here, and we are already enjoying having a place to call home.

Today, Monday, Pattie is off to school at Chiang Rai International Christian School where she has taught for more than 6 years.  This term, she will be teaching multiple sections of High School Math.  This week begins teacher “in-service” and she will be hosting testing, and getting her room ready for students on August 27.  Louise has already begun to attend dance classes at The Kid Dance Studio and will perform in the show in September.  Harry is visiting friends and riding his bike all over the neighborhood, and Nellie is playing and spending time with her friends that she missed so much while she was in the States.

The Narrow Gate Team has done a tremendous job taking care of the farm and ministry here in Thailand.  I am very proud of them all.  They have all grown in the roles and responsibility that they have for their work, and I look forward now to where God will lead them as we grow our project to the next level.  I will begin working at that farm this week as well, and am excited to get back into the day to day business at hand.  At the same time, God has been preparing in my heart a vision for the ministry in the farm going forward.  We look forward to expanding outreach projects through the farm and in the community, and most importantly we will be focusing on efforts to increase opportunity to share the Gospel with the Northern Thai People and expand the Kingdom of God through evangelism and Bible Study.

While we know we are “Home”, we still need your prayers and support as we transition to Thailand following our one-year Stateside assignment in the US.  Please lift up in prayer the following request:

Prayer Request:

  • Pray for a smooth transition for our family and ministry partners during our return.
  • Pray for Favor and granting of One Year Work Permits and Visas for work at the school and work for the Farm. (This needs to happen in the next 60 days).
  • Pray for health concerns for our family as we return to Thailand.
  • Pray for Guidance and Wisdom as Harry prepares to preach at Baan Attithan Church in Chiang Rai this Sunday.
  • Pray for financial provision for our family and ministry through MDE / SEND International in the form of project gifts and monthly support partners. (Praying for $20,000 to complete this 2016/2017 term)
  • Pray that God’s Kingdom will come and Will be done in North Thailand and the Brittan Family.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support.  We will continue to keep you posted about our travel progress

Follow ME ... We're on the way to Thailand!

As we wait in Dubai for our connecting flight to Thailand, it seems a bit surreal to think that in the next 24-hours we will arrive home in Thailand. The past month has gone by in a blur as we have had a chance to travel and visit friends, family, and churches in anticipation of this day.

Friday night, more than 80 people joined us at Spring Creek BBQ, and we had visitors from Birchman Baptist Church, FBC Benbrook, Trinity Bible Church, First Presbyterian Arlington, and Trinity Christian Academy.  It was so much fun to see longtime friends and make new ones.  We shared from John 21, where Jesus asked Peter to “Feed my Lambs.”  This passage challenges us to Take care of our Family, to Take care of our Goats and Business as Mission Project, and to reach out to the people of North Thailand for the purpose of starting new groups of believers in communities that do not yet know Jesus.

Our daughter Hattie, who remains in the US to continue her studies at Texas A&M, blessed us with words of Love and Affection and a very special gift that she hand-crafted for us.  In this, she graphically portrays how our feelings for Texas and Thailand are intertwined together with the Heart of our love being central to the two cities of College Station, Texas and Chiang Rai, Thailand.  This picture will occupy a very special place in our home, and Hattie will always have a special place in our hearts.

We shared during the evening service at Birchman on July 17.  And this past Sunday Morning we were sent off with prayers and blessings from Pastor Bob Pearle and the church after the morning service.

As we go… please be in prayer for housing for our family.  We will be looking at several options on Thursday this week and look forward to making that decision.  We praise the Lord for His abundant provision for our ministry and family.  God is providing for this project through special gifts and also through new monthly members on our support team.  Continue to pray for God’s blessing and financial support for the Brittan Family and our projects with Narrow Gate and our new sending Partner MDE / SEND International.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support.  We will continue to keep you posted about our travel progress

"Preparing to Go - Your Prayers and Support Needed!"

We are cruising west bound on I-40 today on our way back to Texas after a great visit in Tennessee! Had a great time visiting with our friends and family at Thompson’s Station Church.  We had the chance to share and update the church and staff, and we even got to go to the Great Smokey Mountains to rest and play for a few days with my parents where we hiked in the mountains, played like a tourist, and went to Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.

As Texans, we are so grateful for the sacrifice that Tennesseans made at the Alamo to help establish Texas as a Nation.  As a missionary, I cannot put into words my appreciation for the sacrifice and support of friends, family, and partners in Tennessee that make our ministry in Thailand possible.

We depart for Thailand on Monday August 1st, and between now and then we have a lot to do to prepare.  We have to finish packing, get visas, celebrate Little Nellie’s birthday on July 21, do a college campus visit at Texas A&M with Louise, and visit lots of Friends and Family.  We hope that while we are still in Texas, we have a chance to see you.

Tomorrow (July 16) 6:00pm,  come and see us in Plano at Mama’s Daughters Diner to visit and hear more about our ministry in Thailand.  You can get all the details at:   More Information

Sunday July 17, we will be sharing at Birchman Baptist Church with the youth during the morning hour, and Harry will be preaching during the 6:00pm Evening Service at Birchman.

Friday July 29 – 6:00pm, we will be sharing in Fort Worth at Spring Creek BBQ. You can get all the details at:  More Information

As we prepare for departure, there are a number of immediate needs that we would like to share and ask for your help and prayer during these coming weeks.  We need to raise $12,000 usd to pay for visas, shipping, new glasses for Harry, and Deposits and set up for a new rental house in Thailand for our family.  We have not yet located a new house, and very much appreciate your prayers to find the right place to live, and your prayers and financial support to meet these needs.

Our family wants to thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement as we get ready to leave.  We are entering a new phase in the life of our family and ministry, and we are blessed to have each of you as partners in this process.

Blessings from The Brittan Family to yours…

"Move Out Day!"

This past weekend marks two transition milestones for our family.  One year ago on June 25th we moved into the Mission House at First Baptist Church in Benbrook, Texas, and this past weekend we finished packing and moved out in preparation to return to Thailand on August 1.  Having a place to call home and settle into while we have been in the US has been a huge blessing.  The church has set up the house beautifully and it had plenty of rooms and beds for our large family.

I will never forget the first day that we arrived.  It was before Wednesday evening activities at the church when Gary Waller, the mission’s pastor met us and gave us the keys.  We walked in the door, greeted by cool air from the AC on a sweltering hot summer’s day, with fresh flowers on the table to greet us and make us feel welcome.  The kids ran around the house excitedly to pick which room to call their own. After we unloaded our bags, we walked across the street for dinner at Three Parrot’s Tacos.  We were home.

We want to thank the pastor and members of First Baptist Benbrook for providing our family with the opportunity to live in this home during our time.

The Lord has used this time in America to transition our family back to the US, and also to speak very clearly to our family about our calling to serve Him in Thailand.  He has renewed and refreshed the vision to see Thai and ethnic cell groups of believers started in North Thailand that will develop into churches that reach out to their communities and to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We do this through Narrow Gate Farm and Dairy a local Thai farm project where we use our community relationships to open doors to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Moving out of the house, means that we are beginning to travel and visit with family and friends.   AND we want to see you!!!   We will be in the Nashville, TN area from July 1 – 15, and back to the DFW area July 16 – 31.  Let us know if you would like to contact and visit with you directly and we can make that happen.  ALSO…. During the next Several days.  Be on the look-out for an invitation from us through email, Facebook, church websites, and our blog about some events near-by, where we can gather to visit and share about the vision and task that God has given to us in Thailand.

The Brittan Family Tour will be meeting on select summer evenings! So put these dates on your calendars now and plan to be there, eat together, and share….

Thompson’s Station, Tennessee – July 10 Hensley Family Goat Farm
Plano, Texas  -   July 16 Mama’s Daughter’s Diner (Group Room)
Fort Worth, Texas - July 29 TBD

This is a great time to catch up on our family and ministry, as well as a terrific time to introduce your friends and mission minded partners to the ministry of the Brittan Family and our project at Narrow Gate in Thailand.   Be in prayer for these events, and that God will demonstrate His love for the nations through the prayers and financial provision for this ministry.

Prayer Requests:
  • Pray for God’s provision of $35,000 usd in gifts and monthly pledges for missionary and ministry support for this next year.
  • Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance in the administration of Narrow Gate Asia.
  • Pray for the Strengthening of church partnerships with the Brittan Family.
  • Pray for healing and wisdom in health related issues.
  • PRAY FOR GOD’S KINGDOM TO COME AND WILL BE DONE IN CHIANG RAI, THAILAND.

Blessings from The Brittan Family to yours…
