The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. If you have known me for any length of time, and for obvious reasons, I love this passage about the “Shepherd”. Before getting ready to work this morning, Little Nellie recited this Psalm to me and it blessed my heart to hear her remind me of God’s plan for our lives to be productive and beneficial for the Shepherd’s purposes. He feeds us, cares for us, cleans up after us, and looks after and provides for all of His animals needs.
Greetings from Narrow Gate Asia in Chiang Rai, Thailand. It was fun to share our news last week about our new land and the opportunities that we have to develop it. God has been faithful to answer prayer by providing this Lease to Own plan and to provide for the new training and ministry facilities. This new site for our ministry project will be used for outreach, pastoral training, and housing for our interns, staff, and eventually our family. This move will help us be good stewards of our time and resources by reducing our overhead, and ministry operational costs. Located closer to our home and community, this location will also provide opportunities for Pattie and the kids to be more involved in our work on a daily basis, and it will allow for us to more intimately engage local churches and pastors that we have been sent to encourage, disciple, and develop with self-sustainable technologies and principles.
My goal for this week is to get the ground leveled, a new pump installed on the well, verify electricity at the existing house and install plugs for use for construction. I also want to have a gate installed that will be our service entrance to the site.
I told the workers that I want to move in before Dec 5. That is Fathers day in Thailand and after that date, travel and driving gets very busy. We can also post new signs on the road ways and take advantage of holiday traffic to advertise for our new location and to invite guests to tour the farm.
I wanted to write today, and give you an update, so that you would know where we are, and what some of our needs will be during our transition to the ministry site. As I mentioned previously, we have received a gift from a donor in the US for construction of our major facilities. As we look at preparing the site for the move, we will also need to build/prepare other things.
- Water Pump / Piping.
- Electrical / Site Lighting
- New Gates / Fencing Modifications.
- Parking (Gravel and dirt-work)
- Modifications to existing house to make into an office.
- Planting / irrigation around the training facilities and office area.
- Signage for the site and Road ways
- One room workers house.
- Preparation of Silage storage vessels.
- Moving Costs (truck rental, workers)
Eventually, we will want to build Store/Milk Room, where we can receive guests and sell our produce. I believe that this will take place in the next 12 months or so, possibly in conjunction with building a house for our family. In the future we will be hosting a fundraising campaign to raise the capital for the full purchase of the property.
Meanwhile, this list of items are going to be necessary for a smooth transition and I hope will be an encouragement to you for ways that you might be able to help our bi-vocational training project financially. These items will cost approximately $10,000 usd, and position our bi-vocational ministry project to not only make the move, but I believe THRIVE in our new location.
As we write this email, I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider how God might use you to train His workers and do evangelism though Business as Missions along the Thai-Myanmar border, by contributing financially to all or a part of this need. - Pray for provision of $10,000 usd to cover the cost of developing and transitioning our ministry project to Chiang Rai.
- Pray for provision of $150,000 usd for the purchase and construction of staff housing at Narrow Gate Asia in Chiang Rai over the term of our Lease/Purchase agreement.
- Pray for God to call churches and individuals to partner with Narrow Gate Asia financially on a monthly partnership basis.
- Pray for God’s wisdom and that His Kingdom will come and Will be done in North Thailand.
