Discipleship to every Nation

"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 5:9.

About one year ago, I was asked to takeover a Bible Study class at Baan Atthitan Church in Chiang Rai for the foreigners in the congregation. I said yes, and we began a verse by verse study the book of Mark in English. As the class grew, we had people come to learn and worship together from many different languages and nations. Over time, we had Bible Study students from America, Australia, England, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, and China. I read and taught in English, but we worshiped the Lord together from the languages of our hearts. Some weeks attendance would double, or even triple, as these students began to invite there friends from school. Some of those who came were believers, but many were not.

Our goal through this study was of a singular focus - DISCIPLESHIP. And this focus has been approached by teaching clearly about the Life of Jesus and about Life with Jesus. It is also our desire, to see our students learn how to study God's Word for themselves in a clear and applicable way for the intent purpose of sharing it with others. For me personally, it was very exciting to see the scriptures come alive in the lives and minds of these young believers.

This past summer after I had returned to the U.S. I received an email from a very excited student. Her English Name is Hannah, and she emailed me to tell that she had surrendered her life to the Lord. Since this decision, she has taken responsibility for discipling other new Chinese Christians, and has been instrumental in sharing her testimony and the Gospel with other new students at the university.

It was truly a blessing to see Hannah this past Sunday at Baan Atthitan, our partner church in Chiang Rai. I celebrated together with my new Sister what it means to walk through "the Narrow Gate that leads to life."

Discipleship begins the moment we begin to develop a relationship with an unbeliever, and first have an opportunity to begin to speak words of truth into their life. It is our prayer at Narrow Gate Asia, that God will open doors to relationships with people that will allow for the Gospel to go forth, and for Disciples to come into the Kingdom of God.
