Yesterday, we had a chance to visit a small farm of a friend of ours just outside of Mae Sai. About one month ago, he and his wife purchased this land with the hope of developing it for growing fruit trees. In the upland areas of North Thailand, cultivation is difficult and mostly needs to be done by hand due to the steep slopes and difficult road access. Our friends have begun to clear the land and prepare it for planting of trees later in the year, and they wanted some advice on construction of a water collection system for ground water from the top of the mountains.
Little Harry went along for the ride, and we not only got to spend time reconnecting with a good friend, but to go to some new places as well.
I want to tell you about our friend. His name is Phii Kah. He is a Chinese Muslim, and God has been developing our relationship with him and his family for some time now. One aspect of what they wanted to show me was the Hill Tribe villages both above and below the land they purchased. They have suggested that if we can partner with them to do a small agriculture project in this area, it would give us access to these villages, to tell them about Jesus.
Now, I know that God has a sense of humor, but to use a Muslim person to help strategically place me in a village in North Thailand to share the Gospel, how can that be? God is truly awesome. He continually reminds us that it is not about us, but rather about Him and His ability to build a network and an effective strategy.
God's creation from these mountains is amazing.
Keep in Touch, Blessing to you from Mae Sai.
Harry and Pattie.
