This week Hattie participated in the following events:
Intermediate Youth Showmanship(10-12 years old) (Hattie's ablity to showa cow, cow not judged)- 12th place
Junior Heifer (cow has not had a calf, cow judged only) - 7th place
Team Penning (now this is a fun event....4 team members are chosen to herd a couple of cows into the pen on foot) - Hattie's team did it in 59 seconds, Will Babler's team was 18 seconds (3rd place, I think), and the winning team's time was 13.22 seconds.
Livestock Judging Intermediate class (10-12 years) - In this event, the participant judges four different classes of livestock and then are graded based on their judgement of the different classes. Hattie placed FIRST! We are so excited and proud! The prize for 1st place is a heifer and 5 straws of longhorn semen. Hattie was so excited to get her first cow! She also has the longhorn semen she could use to grow her herd.
So are you asking yourself....what are THEY going to do with a longhorn??
Hattie told me this morning after she found out that she won, she has been praying that God will show her if she is to continue with longhorns or not. Hattie believes that this her answer. She is now praying how she is going to continue when we return to Thailand. Do we find a way to bring her new heifer to Thailand? We do not have any answers, but we do know that God will provide the answers and make a way. Please pray with us as we need to make some decisions this week about the heifer and the 5 straws of semen. We need wisdom!!
