"Good to be HOME!"

“For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,”  2 Corinthians 5:2.

We stepped off the plane and felt the blast from the 100 degree air, we heard the chatter of Asian languages, and immediately knew that we were “home”.  It had been 10 long months since we have been in Thailand, and on March 19 we arrived back home once again to visit with friends, and partners that have become our family over the past ten years of ministry in Thailand.  Ironically, that very weekend also marked the celebration of 10 years of missionary service in Thailand for our family and for our team at Narrow Gate Asia.

The purpose of this trip is to prepare and plan for the future of our outreach project in Chiang Rai, and what a blessing it was to meet, pray, share, and plan about the vision that God has given us at Narrow Gate Asia.  Our project is uniquely positioned to make deep and meaningful inroads into the community, and we are praying to see just how God is going to work through us, as we seek His Will and His Kingdom in North Thailand.

Pattie and I were blessed to be in Thailand for this special time, and we got to meet with partners from several mission and community development organizations, Pha Mii Village Church, Chiang Rai International Christian School (CRICS), , and of course the highlight of our trip was seeing the farm and spending time with our team.

I was so impressed with the Farm.  Phii Nat and her team run the farm like it is their own.  They continue to produce the best tasting milk in Thailand, are a blessing to the community, and they actively seek out opportunities to share Jesus with a lost and dying world.  In addition to developing the farm, Phii Nat serves in the local church to run the Youth Department and minister to young people in the community.

On Monday, we drove to Mae Sai, where we celebrated our first ever day in Thailand, followed by a time with friends and partners in town.  Pastor Ahmeh and his wife Milky have been an integral part of our ministry team in Thailand.  During our visit to his church, he shared with me about growth of the village church, increased attendance at their Chinese Language School, and about the newest additions to Shalom House, the orphanage that they manage there.

The rest of the week, we had opportunity to share our vision with other mission organizations in the area, as we seek out opportunities to strengthen our presence and capabilities in North Thailand.   We are praying for partners to work along side us at Narrow Gate Asia to help facilitate Evangelism, Discipleship, and Agricultural Development programs.

On our trip… We also found and ate all of our favorite Thai dishes that we miss so much here in the States.

It was good to be home.  Even if only for a short time.  Please be in prayer for our family, our project, and for Narrow Gate Asia as we seek for God’s Kingdom to come and Will be done in North Thailand as it is in Heaven.

  • Pray that God’s Will is done and His Kingdom comes to North Thailand through the hands and work of Narrow Gate Asia.
