"Blessed are THOSE ...!" Update and Praise

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.  They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.  Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.  Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.  Jeremiah 17:7, 8”

God has given our family and Narrow Gate Asia a vision to reach the people and communities of North Thailand and along the Myanmar border with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Since we began 8 years ago, we have seen God continually affirm that that He has a task for us and that is to serve as an integral member of the community for the purpose of building intimate relationships with people.  Our experiences with them, good and bad, are what make us real and give us opportunity to see God’s Kingdom come and will be done in North Thailand.  As this verse says, God promises that we will never stop seeing fruit.

I believe that this past week is a milestone in seeing God’s affirmation in his Call and direction for our ministry.  This has been shown in two ways, and we want to celebrate and praise God with you for these.

One, THANK YOU, and we praise God with you for His provision.  On July 31, we made our land payment.  You heard and responded abundantly, and we thank God for your willingness to be a part of His plan in this community.  This land is the focal point of our ministry and is already a place where the community can gather, and hear about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  In the future, we hope to develop it further, to not only be a farming model for Business as Mission, but a center for evangelism, Bible Teaching, and Discipleship.  We praise God for His provision for this land.

Also,  this week, we traveled to Chiang Mai for Pattie and I both to have complete Physicals and for me to visit with a specialist in regard to my diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis.  After our check-ups on Tuesday, we returned again to Chiang Mai on Friday to prepare for further testing on Saturday.  In Thailand, UC is not a common condition, and thus doctors find it difficult to assess severity and prescribe treatment.  We were blessed with a very knowledgeable and experienced Gastro-Intestinal Doctor, who immediately was able to determine that I was not responding to my previously prescribed treatment.  The testing yesterday (Saturday) has given him the information he needs to reassess my treatment/medications, and next week after we receive complete results from blood work and biopsies we can create a thorough plan of action.

In just one day following the introduction of new medications, I can already sense an improvement.  The doctor told us yesterday that within a few days, I should be able to return to light to moderate activity.  This is very encouraging, as my Anemia has left me light headed and weak for the past several months.  Next Friday, I return again to Chiang Mai to see results from our testing.   This week, Pattie will also have some follow up work done in Chiang Rai, and we ask for your prayers for her and for doctors as they complete this work.

I want to thank the “ACTS 1:8 Class” from Thompson’s Station Church in TN for providing for and making it possible for us to see these Doctors.  We would not have been able to go without you!  Thank you!

God has planted our family here, and we are so grateful that you are a part of our work and ministry with us.  Thank you for your prayers, financial support for our work, and for your encouragement as we see the people of North Thailand “Enter the Narrow Gate that Leads to Life”!

God Bless, and Thank you from the Brittan Family
