Newsletter - July 21

"We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God's messenger. Accepting someone's help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't lose out on a thing ." Jesus gives us this calling and promise in Matthew 10:40-42. (The Message).

As we have opportunity to travel and visit with people and churches, it is so exciting to see just how intimately we are linked in the work of the Harvest. It is our prayer at Narrow Gate Asia to serve together with you to give a cool cup of water to those who are thirsty. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we teach God's Word and pray for His Church, His Kingdom to come in South East Asia. What is it that the Lord is calling you to do, so that we can be connected together in the harvest fields.

This past week, we were blessed to spend time with family and several close friends in the San Antonio area. Also we shared about the work of Narrow Gate Asia along the Thai/Burma border, and want to extend our thanks to Northminster Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, TX for inviting us to come and join in the task of sharing the Gospel in Asia.

  • Praise the Lord for provision of Airplane tickets
  • Praise the Lord for opportunities to share about his work.
  • Praise the Lord for new Support Team Members as people join us almost daily.
  • Pray for details of preparation and travel. (We depart in 28 days)
  • Pray for preparation for the coming school term.
  • Pray for Laborers in the Harvest. (Foreigners and Nationals)
  • Pray for protection, physically and spiritually.
  • Give God Glory, for He is SO GOOD.
Miles vs. Dollars Boeing 777
A familiar verse in Romans 11:33 reads. " Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgement and unfathomable His ways!" We all have ideas and expectations about how things should work, and it is not any different for pastors and missionaries. We have training, education, experience, and as such we all think that we have figured it all out. It is the same with me.

When Pattie and I returned from Thailand earlier in the year, we had some very clear expectations about how certain things would happen. We prepared a strategy, made a schedule, and then began to execute our plan as how we should begin Narrow Gate Asia and the task before us in Thailand... But the Lord has a way of surprising us, so that we keep things in focus. He continually does the unexpected so that we we will be reminded that it is not about us, but rather it is always about Him and His plan for His people.

So what do I mean. In preparation for our return to Thailand we have budgeted and planned on the purchase of airplane tickets using travel agents and of course CASH / Dollars, Mu-La, Dinero. In my mind, money is necessary for just about anything that we need or do. But, not so for God. God gave manna and quail free of charge; Jesus feed the 5000 from a child's sack lunch, free of charge; we see Jesus heal, and provide over and over again with no money to be had; and ultimately we see Jesus give even His life, so that we can receive the free gift of forgiveness of our sins.

But yet, I am surprised when God provides abundantly for His children for the things that we need. Free of Charge.

With out the need for money, God has used His people to send our family to the mission field. That's right Free of Charge. Thanks to the generosity of the Champion's Class at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX, over 210,000 American Airlines miles have been provide to purchase tickets for a family of six to travel half-way around the world, and we Praise God for His provision.

This is beyond our imagination or understanding. This is not how I would have thought we would be able to acquire airline tickets, but it is our Father's unique plan to work creatively and uniquely in each one of our lives. While always reminding us that it is His Vision, His Purposes, and His Ways that we are called to be apart of.

We depart in 28 Days. On August 17, at 10:10 a.m. we will be on our way to once again walk through the Narrow Gate that leads to Life.

Thank you all for your prayers and your continued support of Narrow Gate Asia an God's work in South East Asia.

In His Grip
Harry
