Celebrating Mother's Day on May 14th in Thailand is a bit different than in America. Thailand celebrates Mother's Day in August on the Queen's birthday (I believe). I am not sure of the date yet, so I will have to do some checking on that one. So I decided to write about my Mother's Day today.
This morning we woke up to a very light rain. The temperature was cool, and I slept in until 6:40am. Nellie and I played in bed until 7, and then I went down stairs to find Harry. He was already in the kitchen preparing breakfast. I bet you are wondering what we cook here. Well, our favorite breakfast meal to cook is scrambled eggs, ham, and fried potatoes. Mmmmm! Harry was putting the potatoes in the pan as I went into the kitchen. I went to wake the kids up to make sure we could eat while the food was hot. We had a wonderful breakfast before we were to get ready for church.
God really blessed me today at church with a cool morning to enjoy the church service. The music was great, and the fellowship is always great! I am sorry I am not able to understand the Thai language well enough to understand the sermon...yet. We did have lunch at the church, and everyone brought something to share. It was great!
After church we did a little looking around town, and now we are at home enjoying the cool breeze that the Lord has blessed us with today. I mention the cool breeze again because it has been a rare day that it is this cool. I understand that in November, December, and January it will be cool, but that is still six months away.
Ok.. this week I plan to write about a few things that are our favorites here. We have really had a busy schedule with language study. I have had requests for us to write about favorite foods, shopping, and places. Any other things you want to know???
