First of all, we have begun to sell Goat Milk at Naam Nantuwan Store in Chiang Rai. This past Saturday we hosted our first every “Model Farm Day” there, where we set up a small pen and brought with us some of our smallest and cutest baby goats and sheep. The response from the community and customers of Naam Nantuwan was fantastic. They got to feed the babies milk and grass, and of course we got to share about the farm and benefits of goat milk. As a result of this one activity, we have seen our sales double at this location in the past five days. I hope that this trend continues.
More than selling milk and promoting the farm, this was a great opportunity to share about NARROW GATE. Several times though out the day, either in English or Thai, I could hear the question, “Why is your farm called Narrow Gate?” One such time was for a group of Thai tourists. I was carrying a 6 week old baby goat and as we talked about the farm, several of them wanted to know about our name. At that one moment, two van loads of tourist got to hear the name of Jesus for the first time.
On Sunday, we hosted a group at our farm from Malaysia. We shared with them about our farm, about internship programs, and about how God is opening doors to the GOSPEL through Business as Mission. We also shared with them fresh Goat Milk, fruit, and yogurt from our farm. We also stopped by for a visit at the Church in PhaMii Village where our church planting partner serves. This was a great time of testimony about how God redeems us in order to be a blessing to the people he calls us too.
These experiences over the past weekend are great examples of what our ministry has become. This week, I am taking time to reflect on what our ministry is, about how it relates to people, and specifically … How can God take our little farm in the hills of North Thailand and make it possible to touch the people of Thailand in a Massive Way. How can we see our little goat farm be used to not only bless the people that are in or near our farm, but rather how can it be used to open “THE NARROW GATE” in a for Thailand as a WHOLE.
“He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.”… And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; … They all ate and were satisfied, …There were five thousand men who ate the loaves.” Mark 6: 38-44 (Excerpts).
It is not unusual to have guests in our farm on a regular basis. And we enjoy that, and take advantage of that opportunity to get to know them and bless them. These may range from 1 or 2 people to groups like we had on Sunday of 20 -30 people. This past Saturday at the traveling “Model Farm”, we saw 100’s of people have a chance to visit with not only our animals, but with our staff and family. It is exposure to these new friends that make our work here exciting … But how do we see this increase?
How is it that we can use this concept, which is proving to be very popular and do it in such a way that it is not limited to mere 100’s on a special event, but rather how can it be expanded to include 1000’s on a regular, if not daily basis. I don’t know! I am praying for an answer to this question.
I imagine that the young boy’s mom who made him the sack lunch of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish thought that this was a nutritious meal, and that it would be a blessing to her son. He might even have enough to share with a friend if he wanted to. But as we look at the story, who could have ever imagined that God would demonstrate His divine power through something so simple as a nutritious meal.
At Narrow Gate Farm and Dairy, we are committed to producing and providing the absolute best in Naturally Raised Dairy Goat Products. We hope to expand and include other Organic items including Vegetables, Pasture Raised Chicken, Eggs, and Lamb, because we feel like good health starts with good nutrition. But more than good nutrition, people need the “GOOD NEWS” of Jesus Christ.
God has a BIG plan for our Little Farm.
Pray with us about how the message of the “NARROW GATE” will go out into all of Thailand, and about how you and your church can be a part.
“They all ate, and were satisfied!”
I thank God that I get to be a Farmer!
