Homeschool conference

Tomorrow we will attend our third homeschool conference. Each year we get to go to a homeschool conference where the kids get tested (using standardized testing), and the teachers (mostly moms) get to spend time getting encouraged and rested. It is a great break from our everyday routine.

Hattie and Emma have always enjoyed the time they get to spend at the homeschool conference, because it is a special time with other kids just like them. These kids are from the United States, and they all speak English. That might sound a bit strange, but when your world does not have many other kids that fit this description it is a real treat to even go for testing. They do get to spend their afternoons in some specialty activities, and of course, there is some free time. Hattie was commenting today that she really loved learning how to draw last year, and Emma really blossomed in her drawing ability. At the end of the day the kids always get together for a game of capture the flag, and they especially like to play after it gets dark.

This year little Harry gets to attend the homeschool conference. He will not be tested since he is in Kindergarten, but he will have alot of fun getting to see some friends. He loves to go to meetings like this. He calls it "Hotel school"!!

Please pray for us this week. Please pray that the kids will really do well on their testing. Pray that any nerves will subside before the test. Pray that the timed portions of the test will get done. Pray that their test taking skills will help them finish each section. Also, pray for Pattie as she rests and gets encouraged for this coming year. We will be homeschooling while we are in the states, and she will be challenged with getting the school year finished with all the other activities that will be going on. Please pray for Harry and Nellie. They will be visiting a friend during this time. Please pray for rest and encouragement for them, also. We rely on Him each day to make our paths straight.

Thank you for your prayers and support!!
