July Update

We had a great time at our big meeting in June. It is called PRIME. There were so many people at the meeting, and we really enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. The meeting was so well organized, and it ran so smoothly. The hotel was great! We were right on the beach, and we could enjoy the ocean breeze anytime from the 12th floor. If you view the slide show below you can catch a few photos of us at the meeting, and on our free day, we visited the Tiger Zoo. What a place!! Only in Thailand, can you do some of the things we did on this day. See the photos to see what I mean.

Next, we celebrated Nellie's 3rd birthday. We had a princess party for her, and it was fun. As the guests arrived we made crowns for princesses and princes. Then we opened presents and ate cake. You have to see the cake....it is a castle fit for a princess. Our very own Daddy and Hattie made it. Yummy!! Check out the pictures below...

This past week , we were blessed with the opportunity to help out in a unique English Camp here in Mae Sai. An English Camp is a camp dedicated to teaching the English Language. This particular camp was unique because it was at the request of 4 schools here in Mae Sai. Each year there is a English language competition held between the schools in the area, and each year one school seems to place at the top each time. The other schools started asking how this was possible, and this particular school said it was due to the fact that many of the children at the school attended tutoring provided outside of school. This tutoring was held by other GCC workers who helped the children with Thai and English. So 4 schools joined together and asked these "tutors" to help arrange an English Camp for their schools. The team consisted of a team of 5 people from the states and three families here in Mae Sai. The team also included some teachers from each school. They helped to translate instructions in Thai. There were 276 students that attended (mostly 5th and 6th graders), and it was a busy 2 days. The student teams (about 40 students in each team) would rotate between 7 stations. It was very organized and ran smoothly. Harry and I helped out in different stations, but we both were blessed by being a part of this event. Since the end of camp 2 days ago, at least one other school in the area has called to see if they could schedule an English camp also. We are seeing doors open like these, and we are hoping that we can truly let the Light shine in Mae Sai, Thailand.
