At the bottom of the last blog entry (the one from Harry), he told you about a gentleman named Zo Min. Just a brief recap….Zo Min came to help us out at our house at first cutting the lawn, and now he is helping us at our project site. He recently accepted Christ, and he and his family regularly attends church on Sunday. Yes, they come across the border each Sunday to come to a Burmese church here in Mae Sai. I know I was excited to see him there. I know his wife Ma Moh is always excited about being there each Sunday, too. This past Sunday she excitedly showed me some pictures on the wall at the church. There were probably 20 or more pictures on this piece of poster board. These pictures were taken during a training session that the church held a few weeks ago. She was so excited about these pictures, because she was in them. She quickly pointed out the pictures of her, and she just couldn’t smile big enough. Even her son knew which pictures to point at. She was just overflowing with excitement to see pictures of herself on the wall. To me it seemed that she felt a sense of belonging. She doesn’t speak English, so she could not tell me in words about her excitement. BUT…just imagine the excitement in a child’s face when they see pictures of themselves. Their eyes just glow. They smile from ear to ear. Their whole body just stands up straight and proud. This is how Ma Moh looked on Sunday. She was proud to belong. She hasn’t wasted any time in getting involved with the church. She comes each Sunday, and she has already attended some training to help her better herself. Leaves are blooming on the branches.
Zo Min also does not waste any time…..Just last week, we needed three more people to help at the project site to clear tree stumps, spread some dirt, and prepare the land for a retaining wall. Zo Min gathered three guys to come help at the site. Zo Min knew how hard the work would be, and he also knew that we provide a good lunch and good pay. The men came, and they worked hard. They gathered their pay for each day, and on Saturday they went back across the border. On Sunday morning, we arrived at church a bit early since Harry was teaching on this day, and we were very surprised to see about 8-10 people seated inside the church already. There was also someone teaching this group. Hmmmm…. We didn’t know the man teaching, and we didn’t recognize anyone sitting in the group…..except Zo Min and Ma Moh. They had brought these three men and their families to church with them on Sunday! Yes, the Lord is at work here!! The man teaching was a guest pastor from Myanmar who had come to visit the pastor of this church. He held an impromptu Sunday school for these people who had never heard the Gospel before. How exciting!! Also, this man spoke English very well, so he translated Harry’s testimony for him during the church service. Seeds were planted. The Lord will water them as He sees fit.
Another interesting tidbit, we usually try to help Zo Min and his family pay for the border fees when they come on Sunday. Well, this Sunday he said that we did not need to give him money. He wanted us to give it to the people that came with him. We were so pleased! Can you smell the blooms of a fruit bearing tree???
