On a trip

We have finally been able to schedule and implement a family vacation. Harry and I have always wanted to do something like this, but we had not been able to in the past. This week we are at the beach. We have been here for a little over 24 hours now, and we have had lots of fun. After arriving me unpacked and settled in, and then we immediately went to the beach. The place where we are staying in on the beach, so we just have to walk to the beach at the end of the complex. It is beautiful! The kids have had fun playing in the sand, except Nellie. She doesn’t like it at all. She sits in my lap, and no part of her body can have sand on it. So far we have been in the sand twice, and I am sure she will begin to play in it later in the week. We will keep trying. The kids have collected a few sea shells, and we have swam in the pools too.

Don’t worry….I have been putting lots of sunscreen on the kids. They have been very good about letting me do this each time we go out. The only I have is that I didn’t put any on me!! Yep, I have a big sun burn. I am very glad that it is me and not the kids with the sunburn. Please pray for the burn to heal quickly with no side effects.

Today Hattie got to do something very special. She was able to ride a horse on the beach. The man with the horse let her take it by herself. She walk, trotted, and ran along the edge of the water for 30 minutes. She was in heaven. It is a bit expensive to ride, but it is worth it for Hattie. She has really missed riding horses. There is nothing better than seeing her face just light up when she sees a horse.

Emma is really learning to swim. She has graduated from the ring float to the arm bands. She is building her confidence with the arm bands, and I am sure she will graduate from them soon. Little Harry has been using the ring float, and he is loving it. One of the pools here is a “kiddy pool”, and it has fun things like a mushroom waterfall, big whale slide, and a crazy slide. All of the kids loving playing in this pool. Their favorite slide is the crazy slide. Even Nellie can slide down it. Harry puts her on it, and I catch her at the bottom. Their faces just glow with excitement when they hit the water. I hope to get some good pictures of them playing, so I will show up.

Tomorrow we hope to do some tourist things around town. We are unsure of what we will do yet, but we will do something fun I am sure. Please pray for our family this week. We are trying to really concentrate on having some fun family time this week. There has been many months of hard work to learn language and adjust to the culture here, and now we have the opportunity to just relax. They are very use to foreigners here, so we are just enjoying the down time. The kids will have the whole month of October off from school, and this week is the first week of four.

Also, please pray for our homeschool. When we return from our travels we will start our homeschool curriculum. We will have two weeks to concentrate on homeschool before the kids return to Thai school part-time. We are working with the school to enable us to teach the kids some of their subjects at home. The school has been great about working with us on this so far. I have prepared our house for when we return. All of the kid’s books and such are ready to go. The kids can’t wait to start….(now how many kids do you know that are just begging to start school??) I am surprised too. Please pray that we will keep this excitement in our schooling, and also pray that the kids will continue to enjoy their Thai school for another term. The term begins on Nov 1st or 2nd, and it will end in March. The kids will have a lot of school work for this term since we are starting homeschool Please start to pray that we will learn to balance the work in order to give them time to be kids.

Thank you so much for your love and prayers. We can’t wait to hear from you about your family. If you didn’t receive our latest update email that was sent out on September 27th, please email us at brittanfamily@pobox.com. Also, please remember to send us your family photos for our photo book and any prayer requests.

Love ya!!!
