Mother's Day in Thailand - Emma

In Thailand, Mother's Day is celebrated on August 12th each year. This is the Queen's birthday, and everyone celebrates their mother on this day. There are many tributes to the Queen set-up throughout the cities, and many people go to put offerings at these sites. Also, many people buy shirts and other things that say "I love mom" or "We love the Queen". It is amazing to see what a big event this holiday is in Thailand. It is a national holiday, so many places close in honor of the Queen.

The kid's school had a special program for Mother's Day on Friday, August 11th. It was a fun event for all. Each grade level at the school prepared something for their mothers on this day. A few of the grades made cards to give to their mother's. A couple of the grade levels prepared something to perform at the program. We were honored to get to see Emma class dance at the program. Can you find Emma in this picture??? (snicker snicker)

Here is a closer look at Emma dancing with her friend at school...

She was so excited about dancing in the program. She really impressed us by her participation in this event. Emma tends to be very shy, and she really showed us that she is getting comfortable at her school.

Above their hands you can see a picture of the Queen also. The stage is decorated beautifully with many flowers and bunting.

The class did a great job dancing. After they finished the mothers were invited up on stage where they were given their flower to wear, and then we went for our special snack. It was fun!
